Box office: 'Ishaqzaade' emerging a hit; 'Dangerous Ishhq' a flop
The box office fate of the two new releases of last Friday is now getting clearer. While Ishaqzaade, starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra is emerging a hit, Karisma Kapoor’s comeback vehicle Dangerous Ishhq is going downhill for a box office disaster.
Ishaqzaade, which got positive reviews save for a few snarky ones, managed to rake in a decent Rs. 16 crore in its first weekend run at box office. The Friday collection was a little over Rs. 4.50 crore. The business rose to Rs. 5.50 crore approx on Saturday and peaked on Sunday with Rs. 6 crore.
Going by the audience reaction, Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra are the film’s main draw, even though some viewers were disappointed by the movie’s tragic ending.
If Ishaqzaade is cruising to a HIT status, nothing seems to have gone right for Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishhq. The film, despite being a 3D fare, faced rejection at box office, with the total weekend collection not surpassing Rs. 3 crore (even less than a single day collection of Ishaqzaade). The film’s screenplay has been blasted by the critics as ‘seriously flawed’. Bottomline: Dangerous Ishhq is headed for a FLOP status.
The coming Friday would see the release of Ram Gopal Varma’s Department, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Rana Dagubatti. Nathalia Kaur makes a special appearance in an item song.
The other release would be Mr. Bhatti On Chutti, starring Anupam Kher and Bhairavi Goswami in lead roles.
